In a recent broadcast on Vietnam Today, CanCham Vietnam President Zach Herbers shared his perspective on how Canada and Vietnam can transition from transactional trade to long-term strategic partnerships across technology, advanced manufacturing, and energy security.
With bilateral ties continuing to expand, Vietnam remains Canada’s largest trading partner in ASEAN, with two-way trade exceeding CAD 20 billion. As both countries look toward deeper collaboration, Herbers noted that Vietnam’s long-term priorities closely align with Canadian capabilities—particularly in artificial intelligence, semiconductors, decarbonization, and workforce training.
Moving forward, the primary focus for businesses on both sides will be investing in relationships built on trust, enabling cross-border research, commercialization, and practical investment across key sectors.
