On July 3, CanCham Vietnam was pleased to co-host a roundtable discussion with Impact Investment Exchange (IIX), bringing together our valued members and partners representing Canadian businesses trading with, operating in, or exploring opportunities in Vietnam.
The roundtable was not only a chance to discuss the future of Canada–Vietnam trade, but also a great opportunity for participants to introduce their organizations, exchange experiences, and connect with fellow businesses from a wide range of industries: Export Development Canada (EDC), CN, St.Johns Packaging, Scalestack, Reinstone, La Tire, Rolls Battery, Aero Asia Trading, CJ Legals and InCorp, Rolls Battery. These conversations are what continue to strengthen the CanCham community and create new opportunities for collaboration.
The discussion centered on the current state of Canada-Vietnam trade under the CPTPP, with participants sharing perspectives from sectors including import/export, manufacturing, technology, aviation, logistics, consumer goods, and professional services. The conversation highlighted emerging opportunities for growth, while also providing valuable first-hand insights into the realities of doing business between Canada and Vietnam.
The conversation also touched on opportunities to further facilitate bilateral trade and investment. Participants shared practical insights on market entry, regulatory and customs procedures, compliance requirements, and the operational realities of doing business in Vietnam, while offering recommendations on how government agencies can further support businesses and strengthen the bilateral trade environment.
The final session focused on practical recommendations to strengthen trade flows between Canada and Vietnam. Suggestions included increasing the visibility of Canadian products and services in Vietnam, expanding investment incentives, improving regulatory implementation, supporting businesses with market research and compliance, and helping Canadian companies connect with trusted local partners.
Working closely with Vietnamese government agencies and CanCham Vietnam, IIX will help bring these industry perspectives into ongoing policy discussions, contributing to greater two-way trade, investment and long-term economic cooperation between Canada and Vietnam.
A big thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such an engaging discussion. CanCham looks forward to continuing these conversations and working together to create even more opportunities for the Canada-Vietnam business community.
