Event Recap: Children’s Cancer Run 2024 - Together for Hope, Fighting Childhood Cancer

Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam – November 17, 2024 – The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CanCham), alongside its dedicated partners, proudly hosted the Children’s Cancer Run 2024 at the Global City in Thu Duc, Ho Chi Minh City. This impactful event united over 6,000 participants in a shared mission to support children and families battling cancer.

The run underscored the urgent need for improved access to pediatric cancer treatment in Vietnam. Mr. Rad Kivette, CEO of VinaCapital Foundation, said Each year, over 40,000 children are treated, but thousands more remain untreated due to financial hardships. Tragically, many children begin treatment at advanced stages, with survival rates at just 33%, compared to the international average of 68% (2011)”.

Proceeds from the event will fund the Can-Clover Program, a partnership between the Vietnam Children’s Fund, VinaCapital Foundation, and CanCham. This initiative ensures that 100% of donations are directed toward the critical medical care program for underprivileged children across Vietnam. Transparency is a cornerstone of the program, with quarterly donor reports and opportunities to engage with the children through hospital visits and psychosocial therapy sessions.
