On the morning of May 25th, 2023, Mr. Zach Herbers, Executive Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam attended the Opening Ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Export Forum & Fair 2023 along with representatives of diplomatic agencies, foreign trade commissioners, Consulates, trade promotion organizations and business associations.
Organized by HCMC Department of Industry and Trade (DOiT) and Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (Vietrade) under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, in pursuant to the Plan No. 737 / KH - UBND issued by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on 7 March 2023 for the Vietnam Export Forum and Fair for the period 2023 - 2025 as well as the Decision No. 44/QD-SCT issued by the Department of Industry and Trade on 19 January 2023 for promulgating the work program implementation plan for 2023.
The Ho Chi Minh City Export Forum and Fair 2023 is part of the action programs to implement the Prime Minister's strategy for exports and imports up to 2030, as well as the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee's export development plan until 2025 with a vision for 2030. The event aims to promote sustainable and green exports as well as to bring together businesses and government agencies to discuss policies and trade opportunities. A variety of quality export products will be offered to Vietnamese consumers and international buyers at the fair. leading reputable export enterprises in Vietnam will attend the fair, ready to meet the diverse requirements of international buyers.
With the theme "Strengthen Connection - Green Export", the event will be held annually to promote sustainable export development in Ho Chi Minh City and throughout the country.
Speaking at the opening of the fair, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Mr. Do Thang Hai emphasized that as the context of global supply chains continues to adjust and rearrange, many countries have strengthened protection policies and barriers to trade. It is necessary to regularly update information and forecast the situation as a basis for short-term adjustments as well as to find long-term solutions in production and export. In addition, it is necessary to change production and business methods and diversify forms of trade promotion in line with major transformation trends in the world such as digital transformation, green transformation, technology transformation, etc.
