CanCham Vietnam joined British Columbia Networking Reception

British Columbia Networking Reception

On the evening of 25 of May 2023, representatives from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam along with its members and partners joined the Networking Reception in celebration of the Official Opening of the British Columbia Vietnam Trade and Investment Representative Office and welcome the Honourable Jagrup Brar - Minister of State for Trade, British Columbia and delegations to Vietnam.


Joining the Minister at the Reception from British Columbia, there were also:

- Mr. Fazil Mihlar, Deputy Minister - Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation

- Mr. William Hoyle, Executive Director of International Trade and Investment - Ministry of Jobs, Economic Development and Innovation

- Mr. Rohan Belliappa, Managing Director - British Columbia ASEAN Office

- Ms. An Vuong, Senior Commercial Officer - British Columbia Vietnam Office


The Networking Reception welcomed over 70+ representatives of businesses, associations, and enterprises in all industries e.g. Forestry, Retail, Foods & Beverages, Renewable Energy, Agriculture, Agri-food, Infrastructure etc., among those were the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CanCham Vietnam) as well as respectable guests and partners from the Consulate General of Canada, the Saskatchewan Vietnam Office, Binh Duong Furniture Association (BIFA), and Dong Nai Wood and Handicraft Industry Association (DOWA)


During the reception, the Minister of State introduced British Columbia Vietnam Office's representative - Ms. An Vuong, Senior Commercial Officer and made an announcement to officially congratulate the new office in Vietnam opening.

Following the Minister's speech, Senior Trade Commissioner - Ms. Jasmine Wahhab from the Consulate General of Canada; President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam - Mr. Mike Hebert, and Executive Director - Mr. Zach Herbers also shared a few words in welcoming the Minister, congratulating the successful opening of the Representative Office and thanking British Columbia for its involvements and supports with CanCham Vietnam as a member.



"The Mission of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam is to support the development of greater opportunity and connection between Canada and Vietnam, and tonight’s event is a prime example of what this can look like in action. We know that strong connection points already exist between BC and Vietnam, in numerous sectors of trade and investment. And, we know that a lot more is possible. With the CPTPP now in full effect, and Canada and Vietnam demonstrating a mutual commitment to further economic partnership, BC is here at the perfect time."

In honor of this special occasion, British Columbia Vietnam Office, in partnership with CanCham Vietnam and Royal Seafood have also brought in the famous British Columbia Oysters and wine for the guest of the reception. And big thanks to Dan On Foods for sponsoring the delicious snacks as well.
