On 21st August 2023, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City organized a reception at the Independence Palace in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Canada and Vietnam - 21 August 1973 - 21 August 2023.
As part of this grand activity to commemorate the golden milestone between Canada and Vietnam, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CanCham Vietnam) signed an Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation (MoU) with the Department for Local Diplomacy Facilitation (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam) to further strengthen the existing cooperative relationship; address common concerns for businesses in both countries to thrive as well as creating more opportunities for businesses seeking investments.

By signing this Memorandum of Understanding, both the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam as well as the Department for Local Diplomacy Facilitation promises within the functions, duties and powers of each Party to:
Promote the friendship and cooperation between Central cities and localities of Viet Nam (hereinafter referred to as "Vietnamese localities") and the Canadian partners (including state governments, cities, funds and their economic development organization.., member companies).
Assist businesses and localities from the two countries to participate in forums that organized by both Parties in order to promote multi-faceted, long-term, specific, actual and effective cooperation.
Promote and expand the mechanism of exchanges between local authorities of the two countries, with the participation of scholars, businessmen and other partners, opening up new ways of cooperation in the future.
Assist the connection of CanCham and its members with local Vietnamese partners to promote mutually beneficial trade and investment relations; establish an effective communication channel between CanCham and Canadian businesses with local agencies and businesses in Vietnam to exchange and promote matters of mutual concern.
Assist Vietnamese localities in finding suitable Canadian partners and create opportunities to introduce and promote Vietnamese localities to Canadian partners.
Organize Canadian businesses delegations to visit and meet with Vietnamese localities in accordance with the needs and situation of cooperation between the two countries.
To coordinate in organizing seminars, roundtables and conferences between Canadian businesses (both inside and outside of Viet Nam) in Vietnamese localities in flexible formats, suitable to the current situation.
Coordinate to organize Vietnam Provincial Roadshow in Canada.
Encourage Canadian Government leaders and localities to meet and connect with Vietnamese local leaders on the occasion of their visits to Vietnam.
