Webinar 3: Manufacturing for Competitiveness
Canada–Vietnam Manufacturing Trade Partnerships: Resilient and Responsible Supply Chains
October 29 @ 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM
Online via Zoom

Vietnam’s manufacturing sector is entering a new phase of transformation. As the country moves up the value chain, opportunities are emerging in higher-value manufacturing, advanced technologies, sustainable production, and resilient supply chains.
At the same time, Canadian companies bring expertise, technologies, sustainable business practices, and investment capabilities that can contribute to Vietnam’s next stage of manufacturing growth.
Join us for Manufacturing for Competitiveness, the third and final webinar in the Canada–Vietnam Trade and Investment Webinar Series, as we explore how Canadian and Vietnamese businesses can build stronger manufacturing partnerships and unlock new opportunities for bilateral trade and investment.
The webinar is delivered under the Impact Investment Readiness in Vietnam (IIRV) Project, funded by Global Affairs Canada and implemented by Impact Investment Exchange (IIX) in partnership with the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (CanCham Vietnam).
Why Manufacturing, Why Now?
Vietnam’s economic growth has been strongly driven by export-oriented manufacturing and foreign investment. Today, the country is increasingly focused on moving up the value chain, with priorities including electronics, semiconductors, high-tech manufacturing, and more sustainable production.
There are also significant opportunities for greater Canada–Vietnam collaboration.
Machinery and mechanical equipment, together with electronics and electrical equipment, account for 53% of Vietnam’s exports to Canada, while Vietnam continues to import production inputs from Canada, including machinery, steel, fertilizers, pulp, and minerals.
With both countries being members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), businesses can benefit from improved market access and a stronger framework for bilateral trade and investment.
