• Support will focus on providing food security to families impacted by pandemic

Sun Life Vietnam today announced a donation of VND 1 billion to the Vietnam Red Cross Society to provide support for communities battling COVID-19.  This donation is part of a global CAD$1 million pledge, announced by Sun Life on March 30.

Over the coming weeks and months, Sun Life will provide financial aid to charities across Asia to purchase essential Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for frontline medical workers and food and basic necessities to help at-risk groups and those whose livelihoods are impacted by the pandemic.  In Vietnam, Sun Life will coordinate with the Vietnam Red Cross Society to provide two thousand vulnerable families from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Quang Nam, Can Tho, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh and Bac Lieu with food and other necessities for their daily lives.

“COVID-19 has become both a health crisis and an economic crisis and we want to support on both fronts,” said Leo Grepin, Sun Life Asia President. “This donation will provide food and basic necessities to those whose livelihoods have been hurt and need a hand to get through this challenging period. We stand side by side with our communities in these difficult times and look forward to brighter days ahead.”

“COVID-19 has put many people in financial stress. Through this donation, we want to give a hand to workers, street vendors and those whose daily earnings are impacted to help overcome these challenges”, said Larry Madge, Sun Life Vietnam CEO. “We are committed to supporting the health and well-being of our Clients, advisors, employees and the people in our communities.”
