BIS HCMC ranks in the World’s Top 50 IB SchoolsOctober 2, 2019
Students at the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City (BIS HCMC), part of the global Nord Anglia Education family of schools, are celebrating after receiving their long-awaited IBDP and IGCSE examination results. The incredible achievements from the Class of 2019 resulted in BIS HCMC being listed in the top 50 IB schools worldwide – the only school in Vietnam to secure this ranking.
BIS HCMC’s average score in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) was higher than both the global and national average: 35.8 points against 29.6 points and 32.8 points respectively. These results serve to showcase that BIS HCMC has once again raised the bar for academic excellence in Vietnam.
The celebrations continued with the release of the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) results in August. Cambridge IGCSE is internationally recognised as the most academically challenging qualification currently on offer to 14-16 year old students. These qualifications are a key milestone in preparing students for the rigorous IB Diploma Programme and the world’s leading universities look to them as an additional performance indicator when considering applications.
The 2018-19 academic year marked a record-breaking year of IGCSE results at BIS HCMC, with 73 percent of grades scored at A*/A (the highest possible marks). It is a magnificent outcome considering 20.6 percent of students across the UK achieved the equivalent results.
