“FROM FAR AND WIDE”
In commemoration of the 150th Anniversary of Canada – the land of red maples, Soul Live Project (SLP) is honored to partner with the Consulate General of Canada in Ho Chi Minh City, to host a piano concert, “From Far and Wide”, with special guest artist – Canadian pianist, Stephanie Chua – along with other featured Vietnamese artists.
Inspired by words from the Canadian national anthem, the concert will feature contemporary music from across the vast land that is Canada, “From Far and Wide”, by Canadian artists like Adam Sherkin, Brian Harman and Ann Southam. The concert will also feature a brand new version of the well-known traditional folk song from Northern Vietnam, “Butterfly and Flower”..
“From Far and Wide” will mark another step in the journey of the SLP to bring culture and arts from the world to Vietnam, making cross-cultural introductions to our traditional music, and from that foundation, introducing the beauty of our local arts to the world.

Biography of Stephanie Chua, Special Guest Artist
Stephanie Chua is an expressive and versatile Canadian pianist devoted to presenting and performing contemporary works through musical insight and innovative programming. She has been broadcast across Canada on CBC-Radio 2 and in Europe on Rondo Classic FM (Finland). Recent highlights of her artistry include solo recitals at Music Toronto’s Discovery Series, New Music Edmonton, and the Emergents Series at the Music Gallery (Toronto), along with performances at Impuls Contemporary Music Festival (Graz, Austria), the Ottawa International Chamber Music Festival, X-Avant Festival (Toronto), and Groundswell (Winnipeg). With the assistance of the Canada Council for the Arts, Stephanie embarked on a tour of South-West England in 2008 including performances at Michael Tippet Centre (Bath) and the Cube Microplex (Bristol).
About the Mission of Soul Live Project
Located at 216 Pasteur, D.3, HCMC, the Soul Live Project Complex is a world-class performance venue that meets international standards for sound, light and facilities. The mission of the SLP is to provide the wider community with a vibrant selection of programs, including monthly Workshops/Masterclasses; a variety of performing arts projects (drama, theatre, musical theatre); and concerts by Vietnamese and International educators/artists; all of which contributes to the broader mission of the SLP to bring the world to Vietnam, and Vietnam to the world through music and the performing arts.
In addition, the SLP aims to foster the future of music/performing arts by cultivating a new generation of artists along with creating community projects. Regular performance nights and events offer new artists a platform to express themselves, showcase their talents and gain first-hand experience, as well as contribute to the development of the community through music and the performing arts. The SLP guides and develops everyone through a three part process of Discovery–Experience–Application.
