Athésia is a singer-songwriter and composer who was born in Montreal from Haitian parents. She made her debut at age 14 singing for musicals, contests as well as national holiday events. Athésia pursued studies in classical music during college and followed up in communications at both college and university. Soon after, Athésia started to study vocal Jazz at McGill’s Conservatory of Music. She discovered during her college years the electronic music scene and quickly started to collaborate with numerous DJs from Montreal’s underground scene and appeared as a guest vocalist on numerous compillations such as Deadbeat's album New World Observer. In 2004. Athésia launched her debut EP Nostalgia, a mixture of fado, tango, bossa nova and tzigane ambiance with a touch of electronic music. Athésia’s latest EP titled “Athésia & the Gentlemen” was launched in March 2010 during her South American tour where she performed in Argentina, Brazil and Peru. Athésia was invited by the Canadian government to represent Canada during the country’s celebration of the International Francophonie Day. Athésia is currently collaborating on a new album, with both Australian and International artists. The album launch is scheduled for late 2017 and will be a musical journey of her Haitian roots.
