The 2016 Terry Fox Run was held on Sunday November 27th, 2016. It was a beautiful morning for the 20th Anniversary of the event and we were very proud to have supported the visit and participation from Ms. Judith Fox – Terry’s only sister, for her and the family’s first visit to Vietnam.
Judith Fox said she was both ‘overwhelmed and in awe that Terry’s legacy had not only made it to Vietnam, but that Vietnam was the country that now has organized the largest Terry Fox Run in the world’, with more than 20,000 attending this year’s event. She was very thankful to all organisations and individuals who attended and who also donated to Terry Fox Run Vietnam. Judith also presented to students at a large number of schools in Vietnam – telling her story, of Terry’s philosophy: “The Power of One” and the ability of one person to make a difference.
As event organisers, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce has received enormous support and contributions from a wide array of organisations and individuals. On behalf of the organisers, Mr. Antony Nezic, CanCham President and TFR Vietnam co-chair and Mr. Kelly Wong TFR Vietnam co-chair, wish to thank all supporters, most of whom are volunteers or donors, and to announce that it is as a result of these efforts – large and small, that this event can be as successful as it is, and we are able together to support cancer awareness as well as cancer research fund raising in Vietnam.
In 2016, we achieved, again, more than 2.0b VND raised and more than 19,500 participants at the 20th Anniversary Terry Fox Run.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support Terry Fox Run 2016!
